| I. Thesis or purpose of your siteÑ What do want your audience to learn? a. Statement of purpose, either explicit on the top page, or implicit but easy for user to determine, see for example, http://polyland.lib.calpoly.edu/overview/ThisProject/index.html b. Everything on the site supports this purpose. c.Items irrelevant to the thesis or purpose d.Value and validity of this purpose |
3.5 Good start, but relate your purposes specifically to Cal Poly Land and the people who work and play on it. More information about how this plant relates to this place would make site more engaging and appropriate to this web location. |
4 |
| II. Integration with Cal Poly Land projectÕs purposes and design format |
2.5 Layout of most pages is pleasant to the eye. Color schemes and images are attractive, though IÕd like to see original pictures of the plant in various forms in recognizable places on Cal Poly Land |
4 Improved, but absence of photos and descriptions of P.O. places on Poly Land are still missing |
| III. Extent and Navigation properties a. Is there enough material to require 5 to 8 minutes for the user to navigate through the site and absorb what it has to offer. b. Are there clear , consistent, logical and interesting ways to navigate through the site, for example ÒExplore Cal Poly Land by place or theme or collection using the navigation bar to the left of every page. Each of the links there leads to further subdivisionsÓ |
2.5 navigation properties need work. Menu bar is too cramped and doesnÕt belong above your general introduction. Each later page should have menubar to take us anywhere on site. Quiz and game seem redundant as separate categories. Same is true for products and treatment. And the video doesnÕt stand by itself. It needs to be included on some other topic. ÒFactsÓ is too broad a category and doesnÕt define what this section is all about. |
3 VideoÕs mentioned but eliminated |
| IV. Quality of Material Presented a. TextÑclarity, sufficiency, conciseness, elegance, accuracy, including documentation b. Images or multimedia elements c. Integrations of text and imagesÑtheir relevance and mutual illumination |
1 Much of the ÒFactsÓ text is plagiarized from Oregon State Website. Text needs proofreading throughout for errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar. Seasonal change page is well laid out but only source of one picture is cited and that source cant be found on the web. ÒTreatmentÓ is plagiarized. Sad. How about getting a tiny bit of ÒOakÓ and trying out different treatments. Link to www.nativeamericanhistory.org doesnt work |
2 Scientific name of plant is Toxicodendron diversilobum Native page is still messed up. Treatments and Products needs proofreading Links are dead on truefalse page Flower picture is mismatchedÑyour source for this was mistakenÑcheck http://www.cnr.vt.edu/dendro/dendrology/syllabus/tdiversilobum.htm and http://www.csupomona.edu/~jcclark/flora/plants/anacardiaceae/toxicodendron_diversilobum.html |
