Welcome
to the Polyland recreational resource guide. There are many opportunities
for recreational activities. In an effort to provide a comprehensive
recreation guide this website was created. The information provided
here is meant to offer suggestions and ideas about how to enjoy
the land of Cal Poly. We invite you to take advantage of all that
the land has to offer for your enjoyment.

Hiking

Hiking
is a very enjoyable experience and offers the best way to explore
the land. To enhance your hiking trips it is recommended that
you wear appropriate clothing, bring plenty of water and don't
forget your camera! The trails available for hiking are clean
and well maintained, but for your safety it is not recommended
that you hike after dark. Always hike with a friend and carry
a cell phone for emergencies. To view descriptions and maps of

Camping

Camping
should be done with great respect for the land. Fires and tents
are not allowed, and everything must be left exactly as when you
first arrived. Bring a sleeping bag, hat, warm clothes, a good
book and a small telescope. To find a place to camp start by hiking
up one of the many trails until you find a spot that you would
like to stay, roll out your sleeping bag and enjoy a peaceful
night out. Please be aware that there are no restroom facilities

Ropes
Course

Chumash
Challenge is a ropes course that is located on Cal Poly, just
off of Stenner Creek road. The facility offers workshops for small
and large groups and is run by a caring and dedicated staff. Reservations
must be made at least three weeks in advance, with a minimum group
of ten people for the empowerment workshops and a maximum of one
hundred people for the team building workshops. Bring a sack lunch,
water and wear appropriate clothing. To make reservations please

Family
Activities

There
are many recreational activities that are enjoyable,appropriate
and affordable for families. Photography, horseback and picnicking
are just a few. There are no designated picnic facilities but
any field will work. Remember to bring a blanket to sit on, water
and trashbags. There are no trashcans available so be sure to
clean up after your picnic. It is recommended that you bring a
camera along and take pictures of your outing. To make it a day
trip, rent a horse for a couple of hours. For more information

Poly
Canyon Pamphlet

Poly
Canyon is located on the University campus directly behind the
second year transfer dorms. A unique land formation that has Brizzolari
creek running directly through the middle. The canyon is an ideal
place for a walking, running and biking. A dirt road leads you
back into the the heart of the canyon. Either side of the road
is blanketed with interesting geological rock formations and wildflowers.
On occasion you may see a deer or bobcat running through the hills.
Farther back in the canyon is the architectural design village.The
design village are structures that were student design projects.
