Horse Canyon Watershed is located north of the Cal Poly campus up from Indonesian Reservoir next to (#14) on Caballo Peak. The USGS (United States Geologic Service) defines a watershed as all precipitation that falls within a topographic area and can contribute to streamflow exiting the watershed outlet. Watersheds are useful for land designation purposes by forming natural boundaries. Horse Canyon Watershed is one of the larger watersheds on Cal Poly's land.
